Newterra Wins Big in Africa!January 25, 2022
Newterra is very excited to be a part of the Tilenga Project – Uganda’s first major oil project.
The Tilenga Project comprises oil exploration, a crude oil processing plant, underground pipelines, and infrastructure in the Buliisa and Nwoya districts of Uganda. The project planners required a “plug & play” potable water and wastewater solution that could operate virtually anywhere and be scaled up and down in parallel with capacity requirements. The Newterra modular packaged MBR plants were the obvious choice. Pre-fabricated systems like these offer a significant economic solution for remote work camps, like this 4000-Person Camp in Uganda. Newterra modular systems can provide potable water from any source and ensure sewage is treated to the highest regulatory standards for reuse or direct discharge – even in environmentally sensitive areas.
“A high-profile project like this required global experience across the African Continent coupled with a solid relationship with this client – Newterra delivered on both,” says Steve Howard. “Newterra is no stranger to supplying larger solutions like these in Africa. A few years back, we supplied a similar system in Zambia supporting Barrick’s Lumwana copper mine operations. Our systems are designed to operate in the blistering heat of Sub-Saharan Africa and the frigid climate of Canada’s North. When the customer needs a reliable system; Newterra delivers.”
