Solution

Skidded MBR System with Building

CHALLENGE

The planners trusted Newterra to install a state-of- the-art MBR system to meet the stringent requirements of this natural wonderland. The BOD, TSS, Ammonia and Phosphorous targets were are all extremely low, which necessitated the Newterra MBR design.

SOLUTION

The Newterra system will be installed in phases, in line with the project development. The first phase will service 125 homes, and eventually once all four phases are installed, the system will service roughly 500 homes. At completion, the plant will treat a total average daily flow of about 420 m3 /d (111,000 GPD) with
maximum daily flows of 1,157 m3 /d (305,000 GPD). Newterra designed and installed a custom treatment building on-site, and then installed a number of modules designed and fabricated on skids in the Brockville, Ontario plant. These skids were all interconnected on-site, and the system was commissioned and ready to go.

Unlike a traditional “bricks and mortar” treatment plant, this modular, scalable treatment technology allows for the wastewater infrastructure to be installed in parallel with the treatment demands of the development. Developers like these are choosing Newterra systems more and more as they can be loose-shipped or pre-manufactured. Newterra also can also offer the option of renting or leasing to minimize initial capital expenditures.

RESULTS

Enhancing Sustainable Building

Newterra’s decentralized wastewater treatment systems offer numerous benefits to building developments. They provide:

Flexibility: Customizable to suit various building types and sizes, from small communities to large industrial complexes.

Scalability: Can adjust wastewater treatment capacity as developments grow, accommodating changing volumes and compositions.

Space Efficiency: Occupies less space than centralized systems, ideal for urban areas with limited land availability.

Environmental Benefits: Reduces environmental impact by treating wastewater locally, minimizing transportation needs and contamination risks.

Cost Savings: Potential savings compared to extending centralized sewer lines, depending on local infrastructure and regulations.

Reliability: Provides localized control, enhancing reliability and reducing service disruptions.

Overall, Newterra’s systems promote sustainable development through efficient, environmentally friendly wastewater management solutions for building developments.
